This morning I spent time with both horses working on ground work. Sunday was great with her refresher, and tomorrow I will step it up a notch. I want her ready for lessons as it cools off. She went through each exercise as though she hadn't had any time off.
Nicci was also great with her gentle workout. She is learning what I'm looking for in ground manners and today we started working on basic side-passing. For her first try, she really did well. She should be excellent at it with a couple weeks of practice. Working her on the ground will make it easy to teach her some of these things from the saddle when we enter regular training. For now, just keeping her mind sharp will do wonders as she continues to put on some weight.
All in all it was a beautiful morning and a productive one.
